About Us

images-About-Us

Our church is made up of people from all walks of life and from many different nations. We love diversity and we love to see new people. We really hope that you will feel right at home. Our Sunday mornings begin with a warm welcome and an invitation to join in celebrating the good news about Jesus. Our worship is dynamic and lively with a mix of older hymns and more contemporary songs as we seek to lift up His name together. We expect God to meet with us and speak to us.

We are also very active in our local community, working alongside other agencies and running our own projects as a practical expression of God's love.

Rock of Redemption is a non-denominational, congregational church founded upon God’s Word. A Pentecostal congregational church is one in which each congregation independently and autonomously runs its affairs. Membership in a congregational church carries a special privilege: it is the privilege of partnership. Our members are invited to join us in advancing the Kingdom of God through sound biblical teaching, discipleship, ministry outreach, and global missions.

What time and how long are your Sunday services?
Rock of Redemption offers one service on Sunday at 12 noon. Our services provide great contemporary music, a relevant message, a welcoming, loving atmosphere, and friendly people eager to meet and connect with you. Our service lasts approximately 2 hours. We recommend that you arrive about 15 minutes before the service to allow time for parking and seating.

What is your worship like?
Worship through music is a high priority for Rock of Redemption, as we believe our praise ushers in the Holy Spirit. Our praise team and choirs minister contemporary worship songs with a full band. Our gifted musicians and singers also present original worship songs and music as they allow the Holy Spirit to flow through them.

We also believe in worshipping God through dance and drama. Rock of Redemption focuses particularly on the creative arts. We use music, song, dance, drama, and technology, such as video presentations, to worship God and teach His word. We are excited to use our anointed time of praise and worship as an avenue to worship God. We want everyone who comes through the door to experience the life-changing power of worship through music, according to Psalm 100:1-4.

Where will my kids go?
Rock of Redemption is a family-friendly church committed to building a Godly foundation in our children, youth and young adults. We offer specialised ministry for children and youth of all ages – from infants through teenagers. All of our children and youth ministries allow your children to experience the promises of God through praise, worship and biblical instruction, according to Matthew 19:14.

What should I wear?
There is no dress code at our church. Many people dress up, and just as many come dressed casually. When you worship with us, you should be comfortable. Your comfort may be traditional church attire, jeans, sneakers, or business casual. Come as you are! Matthew 11:28-30

Will I be asked to give an offering?
As a guest, you are welcome but not expected to make an offering. Our service's Tithes and Offerings portion is a time of celebration at Rock of Redemption. Our members are excited to give as part of their commitment to God and the church, according to Luke 6:38.

As a visitor, will I have to say anything or be singled out?
You will not be asked to say anything or introduce yourself as a visitor. As our way of welcoming you, we do ask all of our First Time Visitors to stand so that we may greet you. You will be given a guest information card to fill out for more information about our church. After our services, you will be invited to attend a brief First Time Visitors reception to welcome you, introduce ourselves, and give you more information about our church. However, if you prefer to avoid standing or attending the First Time Visitors Reception, that is fine, too. It would help if you did nothing that would make you uncomfortable. Luke 19:34

If I need prayer, will Rock of Redemption pray for me?
Rock of Redemption is a praying church. We have intercessory prayer before each service. We pray corporately on Mondays to Fridays at different times. During most services, the Pastor will invite those who need healing to come forward, have anointed hands laid on them, and be prayed for to receive their healing, according to Mark 16:17-18. An invitation is given after each service for those who need salvation or prayer to come forward and be prayed for by our intercessory prayer team member. You may also send prayer requests through the SUBMIT PRAYER REQUEST tab on our website or call the church office. Your prayer request will be forwarded to one of our ministry leaders.

Does your church take Communion?
Communion is taken on the 2nd Friday of each month during our night Vigil. All believers in Christ are welcome to participate. 1 Corinthians 11:23-29

Will I have a chance to meet the Pastor?
Pastor Kuku looks forward to meeting visitors and spending time with members after each service. They are usually available to greet visitors and friends and speak with those who have questions about the church or the message of the day.

Who attends Rock of Redemption?
Our members and visitors are young and old, single and married, with and without children. The majority of our members are families with children and teenagers, but there are also young married couples and singles of all ages.

Need More Information?
On Sunday, hostesses, ushers, and friendly Rock of Redemption members are always on hand to talk with you and answer any questions you might have about our church. You may also contact the church office at 07412988778. We look forward to getting to know you!

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 12 Noon. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee, and biscuits from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. before the service begins. This is a great way to meet people or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know when you arrive, and they will help you get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 12pm with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship led by our choir. We typically have 2 or 3 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. Sometimes a person might pray out loud or read a small passage from the bible. Sometimes people share things that they believe God is saying to the whole church family. This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. One of our leaders will then give a sermon that is bible based and that we can apply to our everyday life. We then finish with a final worship song. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

What about my kids?

We have a great programme lined up for kids of all ages:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years). Children under 6 months are welcome but must be accompanied by their parent/grown-up at all times.
  • Livewires (3-7 years)
  • Encounter (7-11 years)
  • Katalyst (11-15 years)
  • Youth And Young Adults (YAYA) (15+ years) Stay in service.

Children stay with their parent or grown-up at the start of the service for the welcome, songs and notices. We really value worshipping God all together as a family. At the end of the notices someone will announce that it’s time for the younger members to go to their various groups. You will need to go with your children to their groups and register them as part of our child safety policy. Whilst you are dropping your kids off at their groups, we pause to take time to chat to someone sitting near or next to us, giving folk a chance to come back before the sermon begins.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
